What the F……

I have been pretty speechless the last couple days.  First Joltin Joe and I went to the postponed game Wednesday night.  They should have and could have played.  Not sure if it was protection of players or just plain greed but it was ridiculous whatever way you slice it.  All the comments from MLB was about the players and the weather, no mention ever about the fans.  The fans who pay $26.00 for parking, the fans who pay $8.00 for a beer, the fans that follow baseball loyally.  MLB (players and owners) are losing touch and I have a bad feeling about the collective bargaining negotiations this winter.

Then Joltin Joe and I had to watch the Yanks lose yesterday. The Yanks need to hit to win it all, plain and simple.  Their pitching is going to give up 3,4,5, runs a game.  The Yanks need to score 5-6 to beat playoff teams.  Johnson is not going to throw 8 innings of shut out ball tonight.

If anyone else was screwed over the last couple days with parking, tickets, etc. I strongly encourage you to call, e-mail, mail MLB and the Yankees.  They need to know that they cannot dick over the fans forever.  Over 4 million people came to watch the Yankees this year.  I am a die hard Yankees fan and bleed deep Yankee blue but what happened Wednesday night was just not right.

Game on

The playoffs start this fine evening.  277 outs, 99 innings, 11 wins to go.

The A’s just beat the Twins 3-2.  Hopefully that series we be a long grueling 5 game series for both teams.

Cy Wang goes tonight.  He needs to be dominate.  The Tigers will be hungry after blowing the AL Central division.

I may be jinxing him but I am feeling a big game from A-rod in the 6th spot.

Let’s go YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yankees playoff roster set

The Yankees ALDS roster is set.

From Yankees.com. “New York will take seven infielders (Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Cairo and Phillips), two catchers (Jorge Posada and Sal Fasano) and five outfielders (Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon, Bobby Abreu, Bernie Williams and Melky Cabrera).
The 11 pitchers will be Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina, Randy Johnson, Jaret Wright, Cory Lidle, Ron Villone, Bruney, Mike Myers, Scott Proctor, Kyle Farnsworth and Mariano Rivera.”

No major surpises.  Torre was quoted as saying “We felt Phillips gave us the defense at first base,” Torre said. “Plus, in the event we want to use Cairo as a pinch-runner, we have a backup infielder who can play third, second or first.”  That was my hunch all along.  Wilson did not show enough the last couple months to warrant a roster spot.  He cannot hit a curve ball.

The article also says if Johnson cannot go, Karstens, Rasner or Henn will be added to the roster.  The Yankees need Johnson for the playoffs.  Even at 43, he is an intimidating force on the mound.  But if he is not 100%, he should not go out there.  Remember Kevin Brown, game 7, 2004 ALCS.  He should have never started that game.

I am a little worried about Bruney and his control.  8 IP, 9 BB his last 7 appearances.  In playoff games against good teams, he has to get guys out.  He has the stuff to dominate, ala Mo in 96 but he needs to throw strikes.
