Back from a weekend away
Just back from a 1 year anniversary get away with the wife in Kennebunkport, ME. Hung out with Bush Sr. a little, enjoyed walking on the beach and some good seafood.
While I was away I noticed the Tigers took Gary “Me first” Sheffield to the Tigers for 3 young arms. I predict Sheff will enjoy the first year or two of his contract but will begin complaining about the Tigers GM and front office once he doesn’t get the extension he wants.
The Yanks got 3 young arms, one who was the Tigers #3 prospect. They also got a couple young guys that could eventually fit into the bullpen as setup men. Sanchez may eventually be moved to the pen too but he is slated to start AAA as a starter. Not bad, Hughes, Clippard and Sanchez in the Scranton rotation next year. Decent options for a #5 spot out of camp or a starter in case someone gets injured. Rasner is throwing well in the AFl and Kartsens looked ok as a possible #5 starter last year. The big question is, do the Yanks go wih young arms next year in the back end of the rotation??
I have read that the Yanks will be picking up Wright’s contract and may trade him the the O’s for a reliever. Not too sure what reliever because outside of Ray, they do not have anyone worth looking at. Maybe they can pick up another pitching prospect?
So far the offseason has gone well. We unloaded the whiner and his 13 million salary for 3 good young arms. Moose looks to be getting ready to sign a 2 year 24-25 million dollar deal. Not bad if he can go 16-8 with a 3.50 ERA the next couple years.
Interesting how all reports are that the Sox outbid everyone for Matz but still no official announcement. Would be funny if the Yanks actually did outbid the Sawx.
