The fans lose
Baseball has signed enormous t.v. contracts and the teams are making tons of money. The owners are getting outrageous contracts (Lee, Mathews Jr., Soriano, etc.). In the end , the fans lose out. Ticket prices will go up, concession prices will go up, parking will go up.
I remember this century when bleacher seats we 5 bucks and parking was 5 bucks. In the matter of 6-7 years, prices have tripled.
The problem is the fans keep going to the ballpark. Attendence was at an all time high this year and will probably be higher. How high will the prices have to go before the fans stop going. Of course baseball has us by the balls because we all love baseball and it is America’s past time. So what is a fan to do? Boycott going to games? Stop buying $8 beers? Stop rooting for the team you have loved since you were a kid?
Personally, I plan to attend less Yankee games in 2007. I am sick of being used and abused by the filthy ricbh elites in the Yankee organization. I can enjoy the Yankees from my couch. And if things get worse, I will get my baseball fix from minor league games and follow the Yankees via the Internet. The rich keep getting richer in baseball and the fans keep getting screwed over.
