Last year I threw around the idea of having Mike Piazza play for the Yankees as a part time catcher/DH. I wonder if anyone feels we should go after him this offseason? Use him as a Catcher (40 games), DH (40 games) and then as a right handed bat off the bench late in games.
Get him maybe 400 AB’s. I read he still wants to catch which may be a problem. He also does not fit the defensive backup/no hit that the Yankees have used in the past. He basically cannot throw out anyone stealing a base. If we could sign him for 3-4 million a year, should we? Or should we avoid him?

OK. Got your attention. Of course I am just joking.
I am not sure why but I am very anxious to see where this off-season goes? Sign a bunch of big names? Give some young kids a chance? Where is Sheff going? Will A-choke be traded? What is the rotation going to look like in February? I think the Yankees are at a crossroads.
I like what they have been doing the last couple of years but I am worried they are going to overspend this winter. Sign Suppan for example. Go hard after Zito and the Japanese pitcher. Although I have read that Matzakuko or whatever his name is is the real deal.

Posting opens today for the young Japanese pitcher. Some are saying 30 million just to negotiate with him. Should the Yankees make a run at this guy???? He is 26 with what Bobby Valentine said is “major league stuff”. Hey, a lot of pitchers have major league stuff but are they good. Can they spot their pitches, pitch from the stretch, etc. I met Mr. Valentine when I was about 16 and he seemed to me like a smug know it all so quite honestly I never take what he says to mean anything. There is a reason he has been managing in Japan for years. I know the guy is from Connecticut but he just seemed like an a-hole when I met him. Granted it was only for about 5 minutes but hey, the vibes were speaking to me and the vibe was a major a-hole feeling. Could have been Jeff Torborg who was also at the baseball clinic. .
The Sheff trade talks are killing me. Who will we get for him???? Salty from the Braves? I heard Jacque Jones and John Mabry from the Cubs???
What if Moose doesn’t come back? Big loss or easily replaceable? Is it the curse of the Moose?? Lots of bad things have happened since he arrived in 2001. .
Tyler Clippard broke a top 100 prospect list. Either you love this guy or you hate him. I am hoping he becomes a very good #3 starter for us in 2008.
