Chamberlain arrested for DUI

Why don’t these guys learn. World of talent, chance to make heaps of money, fans love you and you have to go get a DUI.

I would be a hyporcrite to say I never drove drunk but I also never threw 98 mph. My heater in my prime hit a whopping 70 mph. I did have a nasty curve though. :-)

Here is a picture from Friday night smuggled to the media. I knew it was A-rod’s fault!!!!

Way to go Rays

Not this year.
Papelbon

Where was the Papelbon dance this year???? hahahahahaha

I have stated in previous posts, I am not a Red Sox hater, I just do not like Papelbon’s antics. Mo was a great reliever and won with dignity.

World Series prediction: Rays in 6.

I will try and do a position by position analysis tomorrow and Wednesday.

Grooved fastballs

As I watch more highlight films from Thursday night but is it me or were Balfour and Hammels pitches grooved into Ortiz and Drew? Looked like 84 mph fastballs to both of them.

And Madden makes no moves???? The fix is on.

Disclaimer: I am pretty much joking because I am not a believer in conspiracies. We did land on the moon, 9/11 was not orchestrated by our own government, and bigfoot does NOT exist.

Let’s Go Rays

The Rays better win tonight or I am launching a full investigation. 2004 was probably fixed, last year was probably fixed and this year may be fixed. It is all about the ratings and a Sawx vs. Phillies will get a lot more viewers. Watch the first innings. If Sheilds hits Ortiz, the fix is on. Remember the Black Sox? Eight Men out is a great baseball movie.

Still no big Yankees news. I doubt Peavy is coming to NY. He wants to play in the NL and I do not think he will play well in the AL. The Yankees need to focus on bringing back Pettitte and Moose if they want to come back and landing Sabathia.

The Fall league is moving along. Miranda was 0-4 yesterday with 3 K’s and has cooled off. He still deserves a good chance at first in 2009.

On a surprise development, Giambi is neither a class A or B free agent this year. I still doubt he comes back but if he is offered arbitration and signs someplace else, the Yankees do not get any draft picks. I still think the Yanks should offer Abreu and Marte arbitration. If both come back on 1 year deals, not a huge deal and if they leave, the Yanks get draft picks unless they sign with a teams whose 1st round draft pick is protected.

How many days until pitchers and catchers????

Come Onnnnnnn

How can the Rays choke like they did last night?? Was there gambling on the line? There has to be a fix. Up 7-0 with 8 outs to go???? I mean, come on. MLB does not want to see a Phillies-Rays series. The TV ratings will be worse than the Keith Olbermann show.

Ozzie displays best what the Rays did last night.

The Phillies are in the Series

Congrats to the Phillies for winning the NLCS. It was sad to see Torre get ousted again and I felt the Dodgers had the better team. I think the Dodgers will be a force next year. They are young and have a very good manager.

The Phillie Phanatic is an all time team mascot great. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillie_Phanatic

Phillie Phanatic

I hope Fox does a story on the phanatic for the Series.

I am rooting for the Rays to close the series tonight. A Phillies vs. Rays series would be interesting. Not great for ratings but I think it would be a god series.

The Sox got em right where they want em

The Rays are up 3-1 after another rout last night. After watching 2004 and 2007, the Sawx have the Rays right where they want them.

This year may be a little different. The Rays are too young to be nervous, plus games 6 and 7, if the series goes that, far are in Tampa. The Rays need to put it away tonight against Dice-K. He puts men on base and the Rays need to score some run early.

This day off between games 4 and 5 is stupid. MLB is turning into the NBA. The playoffs are going to go on for weeks. If the Dodgers win tonight there is a travel day and then a game on Saturday. Way too much time off. Baseball is meant to be played every day.

No real news from the Arizona Fall League. Russo went 1-4. He was the only Yankee to play yesterday.

Meacham fired

Just read over on Peter Abraham’s blog that Bobby Meacham will not return next year. I could see this coming. He was not a very good third baseman and was buddies with Girardi. I am sure a message was sent to Girardi to not pick favorites and to show him who really is in charge.

It will be interesting to see who gets hired. They can move Pena or Thompson to third base and hire a first base or bench coach. Not sure how much experience Thompson has coaching bases but I can see them moving him to first or third and hiring Baylor to be a bench coach.

Peter Abraham says that it is likely all the other coaches will be back. The NY Daily News is reporting Rich Monteleone will not be back but that is not big news.

AFL update

Hughes had another good start yesterday. He is working on a cutter to replace a slider that was not working for him. He is 22/23 and has the chance to really put it together next year.

Miranda was 2-4 and continues to make a case for the first base job in 2009.

Marquez pitched a scoreless inning and will start the year at AAA but is an injury away from getting to the majors.

Jackson was 0-4 and after starting 3-8 is in a slump. He is working on things but still should be producing a little more. He really needs a full year at AAA in 2009.

Check out http://www.milb for updates on all the Fall leagues.

Da Browns

I used to be a die-hard Browns fan until the son of Satan, Art Modell, moved them to Baltimore. Since they reincarnated a few years back I have had a tough time following them again. I started to follow them some more last year when they overacheived and had a 10-6 record. I still do not follow them as much as I did in the days of Kevin Mack, Bernie Kosar, Frank Minifield, Webster “Foghorn, Leghorn” Slaughter, Ernest Byner…. but I am slowly getting back into being a fan. Nice win last night on a big Monday night game. 2-3 with 11 games to go and in a season where anything can happen, they might sneak into the playoffs. 10-6 could get them in this year. The Giants proved that all you have to do is get into the playoffs and then anything can happen.

Anyone who was watching How I met your Mother last night heard be laughing when Ted pulled out the signed Bernie Kosar cleats. :-)
